Training Requirements:

We believe that adoption is a lifelong journey.  Our desire is to equip and prepare our adoptive families for this journey.  Because of this we require in-person training.  All families in our Domestic Infant programs must attend the Infant Adoption Training, there may also be program specific classes including the Infant Networking Class for our Outreach Families.

  1. Infant Training: This is a 7 hour class that addresses transcultural adoption, openness in adoption, and adoption laws.  A significant portion of time is devoted to an open panel discussion with all members of the adoption triad, including: adoptive parents, birth parents, and adult adoptees.
  2. Infant Networking Class: This is a 2 part class.  The first class is a 5 hour Saturday class which includes discussion and information on networking, using appropriate social media and how best to communicate with a perspective birth parent.  The second class is a two hour Friday night class where families are able to enjoy a dinner with Birth parents who have placed children for adoption.  The Birth parents will also review the families profiles to offer valuable feedback.
